Ah! Glyphosate - - I can get that undiluted.
I thought there were two salt strength's available now?
What dilution would you
recommend (trunks are probably around the size of a CD) and when would be
the best time to fell and treat?
I think it's 10% in water but I also think this was the type with a wetter
in the formulation. You should read the label, I'm 20 years out of date and
the bioactive stuff is different from ordinary roundup I was used to. In
fact we almost exclusively used broadshot in oil then unless near water.
Naively I was thinking of the spring as
being the time to treat as the trees would be wanting to grow and so any
treatment would be more effective?
It's the opposite, in spring the up going sap washes the chemical off, so
autumn is a good time when the bark cambium is taking things back to the
root. The main thing is to apply it quickly so the flows take the systemic
into the root. We just run a slot around the cambium and applied in that, a
couple of ml will do for little stumps. Mind Elder will have a with pith,
we used to pack this with ammonium suphamate crystals.
I'm thinking of clearing them out in the next few weeks though.
Later is better but expect to treat regrowth in the spring.
One chap told me not to use over strength roundup, apparently the aim is not
to cause trauma to the cells to which it is applied as this reduces the
uptake, it needs to be taken back into the root system.

As usual your posts give so much more info that the rest of us can use in other situations.
