Hm. My question would be "How much current does the television use
when on standby". Most people, when they are several in the house,
leave on the TV when leaving the room. (I can't remember how many
times I have visited farmer's houses to find nobody present, but the
TV on, with the viewers gone to check on sheep, cows, etc.) I suppose
one should turn it off, instead of leaving it on standby. Maybe
people do not want the TV is think it is unloved. :)
Our wee telly is on in the kitchen from the morning for several reasons.
Some of which are :-
1- if its not on we can find that we lose the whole day / week not knowing what news etc has happened because radio reception is so poor around here we do not have it on anywhere.
2- when we had a houseful of young / middle aged dogs then they knew that the telly on as background noise meant that we were not too far away.
3- the complete crap that is on is 'switch off' from the rest of the daily hassles when you catch up with 5 minutes and it means you have half an idea what everyone else is talking about.
4- it means that friends who dropped in know we are around, somewhere.
