I've not noticed sheep here licking the salt on roads, presumably because
they get more than enough of it on the grass :-)

However, if they lie down on the road, as they often do, does this mean
they will now stick to it and not be able to get up?

tarmac with molassess and Salt is probably a better feed than anything else
you'd find on the fells in Cumbria, typical that the Scots find another way
to help farmers ;-)))
