Do we English feel aggrieved, oh no, of course not....

SPS payments start on Monday.... except in England

Three quarters of farmers in Wales will receive their single payments next
week, according to the Welsh Assembly, which will be releasing £141
million on Monday. In Scotland, the Scottish Executive says it is
planning to get 60 to 70% of payments out by Christmas, again starting on
Monday.

But English farmers will have to wait. The RPA has said it will not be
making any payments next week. Ministers have turned down flat a
cross-industry request for 80% advance payments starting in December.
Instead, when the RPA do eventually get around to issuing any cheques,
they will be payments in full, probably to only an initial handful of
farmers. The RPA_s targets are to make 75% of payments by the end of March
and 90% by the end of May _ marginally less ambitious than the targets
they set themselves two years ago.
