My guess is that they were a way of letting small creatures get
through the fence, but what was the V for? The only theory I could
come up with was that perhaps small creatures like pheasant or grouse
chicks see a predator - a fox, for instance - and get through the
fence, while the predatore goes directly in pursuit and gets caught in
the V. But why wouldn't the chicks get caught in the V as well?
i'd be grateful for any explanations.
