I recently installed thunderbird 2.0.0.6 under Windows XP. I was
just
getting to like it, but now it crashes immediately on loading.
This morning when I powered on the computer, it ran checkdisk, but
beyond that I have few clues. I have tried reinstalling, but that makes
no difference.
It still runs if I log in as a different user, so I tried getting
rid of
the thunderbird file in myUser/Application data. That enables it to run,
but on a once only basis. After exiting thunderbird, it refuses to run a
second time.
Does anyone have any ideas?

That sounds suspiciously like a corrupted profile. Try creating a new
profile. If that works, you should be able to copy across anything
important from your old profile. If you don't already have the
information re locations, you should find all you need in:-

If that is of no use, the only other idea I can think of at the moment
is to ask here:-

Same result. I getting running again, but only once. I think the problem
is in XP. It's been going for two years without being reinstalled.
That's quite a while, in my experience, for windose. A proper OS
shouldn't need reinstalling at all.
