suspect that's the key to it all! Certainly fits my memories of Shetland

Some Shetland sheep do shed their fleeces, and I've an idea there's a
specific cause. If so, it might be open to development into a management
technique? Unfortunately, I can't remember what it was!


Stress (usually nutrtional), illness or some antibiotics can lead to
shedding. Sadly none of these could realistically be used to encourage
shedding.
