Derek Moody <derek@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> writesThe items in the smtp server have, as far as the system is concerned,
already been delivered into the correct place (as it was when they arrived)
so you're stuck with clearing them out the hard way. However your new Pop
box means that any future repeats - Eg. the 300x 1mb email stutter or the
(legitimate) rebounds from a (forged) spam shot) will be much easier to deal
with.
Tim should prepare set up reject envelope to reject everything.
pop3 anything new then set the envelope rejection.
er...right.
Then (briefly) return to smtp and clear them out.
They can stay there for a bit while my nerves recover:-)
then back to pop3.
Do NOT have smtp and pop3 going simultaneously.
OK.
If there are items remaining on the *pop* server then your server may be set
to leave them there after downloading - fine if you're using a second
machine while away but only serving to clog and slow the process otherwise.
There is always an option to delete after download. Check through the
configuration (again!)
Ah, could be. Setting should be "fetch all" (deletes after downloading)
not "mirror" (leaves on server), in tripnuke
connect - configure - email transfer - edit mailbox - fetch all
Yes. Done that. I decided not to mirror. I have not initiated remote access either as people likely to send mail know when I am here.
