If anyone really thinks it is essential to point out to casual viewers
of this ng that PG's views are not to be relied on (IMO this is so
obviously the case that it is a waste of time) then either post a weekly
message to this effect or post a single message to the first of his
posts in a thread to this effect and then ignore him. Unfortunately,
for some, winding up a person whose health is clearly suspect has become
a game which is rather sad.
I don't often get involved, but for once: "here, here" (or should that
be "hear, hear", I've never really been sure.) Pick on someone in good
health and in full command...
On reflection, I will say one more thing. I spent a quiet afternoon
reading Pat's website a few month's back (I'd only glanced at it
previously). By the time I'd finished, I felt overwhelmingly sad and a
little bit guilty for having indulged in Pat-baiting in the past. I
stopped looking at and responding to Pat's posts then because it seemed
the kindest thing to do.
I respect other's attitude that Pat's views should not go unchallenged,
but you might ask yourselves whether you're doing it for the record or
for the sport :-)
I'm not sure whether to regard that as insulting or not.
It might be more impressing, if some of you - not just you Andrew, had
actually taken the trouble to meet me before launching forth.
Earlier, you could have had sight of documents not for the public domain.
Most reasonable people would have quickly grasped the constraints, and
anyone with a knowledge of the local topography and scene would have quickly
realised just how serious the incidents here, during CSF 2000, were. And how
relevant to British livestock farming today.
There is a whole section of my recent life missing from both the website and
ukba. I'm fully aware that a small subgroup, maybe only two or three people,
are aware its relevance and are very anxious that this should not become
common knowledge. It would instantly lose them the support of most of the
regulars. You should not assume Jim is one of that group. He may well not
be.
They do, for example, know that I'm very likely to sue when I'm ready. How
widely the information has been spread, I do not know, but it is very
unlikely that you, for example, have been told. In fact, I'm sure you have
not.
Had you met me you would have been able to form your own view, from personal
observation, on whether the constant libellous remarks about my mental
condition, were true. They are not, of course, and have caused very
considerable distress within the family.
The difficulty was that some here, knew a little more than the rest, and not
all of them the same things. Some certainly knew that from the very first,
that I had supporters within Maff-Defra, and within farming, locally and
consequently knew that my complaints were likely to be justified. They
actively discouraged others from any support for whatever reason - and
recruited others, less talented, to begin a defamation campaign.
I think it is "hear hear" by the way.
Anyway, as others have realised ukba, in its present form, was very likely
to collapse, not by my actions, but by those of the politburo.
That is not in my interests, so I am attempting to cool it, as a tactic,
within an overall strategy of forcing reform of the SVS. There is no
interest one way or the other in the health of ukba.
Anyway, insulting or not, your posting does encourage others to read the
website. It is rather like Phillips, most read the reviews and not the
original. They lose by it.
