These big companies have their own vets and they are testing for all
sorts all the time.
They are presumed to, but they are not government monitored.
They do for the companies sake
Any death is fully investigated as the potential for catastrophe is so
high
They are protecting themselves
Look, it is the SVS's job to make some attempt at regulating them. It is
simply not good enough to operate on a trust system merely because that have
a vet on a retainer. We have had too many incidents and an endless cycle of
court cases in East Anglia. The system does not work.
The movement of birds around the country is colossal - your pigs have
NOTHING on the poultry business
I'm well aware of the vast often risky movements of both - and they are not
"my" pigs.
They are completely paranoid about health
Yes, their financial health.
Any government requirements are "chicken feed!" in comparisonThen why all the court cases, why all the incidents?
Yes - its obvious its low Pathogenic from the low death rate
The pathogenicity is not related to the strain perse
Theorectically all the permutations [H1thru 16 N1thru 9] could be in LP
or HP
It has not been confirmed by final tests.
If it was Highly pathogenic H7 you would not need a test - or for that,
much of a cull - 90% plus of the birds would have been dead already
From eyewitness accounts of HP H7 incidents - you spot the first ill/
dying bird in the morning and the other 95% are dead by the night
Right, Jill says it is OK this time, last time it was the RSPB. Where
exactly are our government vets and the long awaited tests?
It probably is a less dangerous strain, but that's not the point. It is
their job to tell everyone else and pronto.
Ok so it is an exact parallel of PMWS, CSF and FMD. The SVS has allowed the
Local BBC TV has given the origin of the birds as FRANCE either as eggs
or chicks.
The SVS have produced their scapegoat. Although at this stage they say
there is no suggestion that the disease came in with them, it is enough.
No
see my other post
They are saying it is unlikely to be France as the timings are wrong!
As I have said for many months now - much of the EU breeding stock is in
Mainland Europe - there are millions of youngsters shipped around from
these places. Its of no surprise that this set of new breeders originate
in France
Banhams are one of the highest rated growers of Ross birds.
I have no idea whether this is the French place but its one of the
grandparent breeder associates on the Ross site

importation of sick animals into the UK and again sparked an epidemic.
Is that what you are saying?
If you are right, and I think you may be, no wonder the SVS have gone to
ground. If even the less dangerous strain gets into the PMWS hit pig herds,
the results could be completely catastrophic.... and people are going to
return to the question of the origins of CSF and FMD.
