sugar beet machinery

Been talking to machinery salesmen. It seems to have finally sank in
to Irelands beet farmers that the sugar beet industry is dead, and
they are either trying the fodder beet option, trying peas/beans as a
break crop, or getting a (tm) real job. Some even bought machinery up
to last year. Anyway, there is a large amount of surplus beet
machinery around, which will have to be moved before it starts to rust
too much. What is happening in England?.. Assuming that the there is
no sugar beet production in Scotia or Wales.. There was a story that
France would take over the Irish business.
