Re: Mute Swans Re: Bird Flu

Most European countries, including Germany, have been testing both
live and dead birds throughout the winter, starting back in September
or October. Many thousands of wildfowl and waders have been tested in
different parts of the UK, all organised by DEFRA in conjunction with,
e.g. Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust and the British Trust for
Ornithology, and just one more demonstration of what an excellent and
alert state veterinary service we have.

Indeed
I thought that was probably the case but could not find confirmation
It would seem like a sensible place to be working with its proximity to
other outbreaks

Its an enigma to erupt like this.

The pattern for most is not difficult to see but then so few individuals and
reasonably spaced apart on the Baltic coast for fairly sedentary birds while
they are there.
It would seem possible that the Danish, German and Polish birds are all in
pretty well home terriotory being within a few hundred miles of each other
with the Hungary, Austria birds coming from the same place but moving for
better feeding?
