The Americans are well aware of the propensity of the peasantry to butter up
their social superiors in the hope of crumbs from the tables of the rich. It
is part of their heritage, just like Californian doomsday cults.

I'm reminded of the Communist inspired industrial trouble in the 1960s and
70s in Britain's traditional seaports. We always thought that non-Communist
Felixstowe was unusually well informed on when pickets would arrive. Under
the thirty year rule, we found out that quite aside from surveillance by the
security services, MI5 had all the Communist union leaders informing on one
another.

Lessons from history, boys and girls, lessons from history. Don't mess with
Britain's sea and airports. You are the ones that get in the mess and it
will be your children that will find you out in thirty years time.
