It is now possible to add something. I have been listening very carefully to
all the news reports although I have no transcript.

It is quite clear that a public statements were followed by an "off the
record" amplification. It is not clear whether the SVS or the NFU were
responsible, but the headlines blaming hobby farmers were fed to the BBC.

Either the SVS or the NFU are perfectly capable of blaming the innocent in
order to protect their interests. My guess is that is was the NFU, in which
case the SVS simply provided the "nudge nudge."
