TB Refuseniks

Pat's Note: There are now several cases like this.

This is what happens when people lose confidence in the State Veterinary
Service. They are right to have no confidence in them. The SVS fake blood
tests and threaten anyone reporting it. They then cover-up for the
miscreants.

The senior ranks of the State Veterinary Service should have been made the
subject of a full criminal investigation five years ago. There was more than
enough evidence of widespread criminal activity

However, for the avoidance of doubt, the law has to be obeyed. However
painful, any complaint or campaign should be made a separate issue.

Farmer's vow to protect TB calf

A Devon farmer says she will fight to prevent a bull calf from being
destroyed by government vets.

Sheilagh Kreamers from Oxwell near Newton Abbot has been told her pedigree
calf has to be culled, because it might have TB.

Defra policy is to shoot the animal, carry out a post-mortem examination to
then find out if it does have TB.

If the outcome is positive then action has to be taken to protect the other
animals.

'Ruined Christmas'

Ms Kreamers hopes that Fern, a pedigree Dexter Calf, will one day be a show
bull but Defra's annual TB test, found that Fern is a TB reactor.

That means he may have TB, but not for certain.

Ms Kreamers admits that she cannot physically stop them removing Fern, but
says she will do everything in her power to get in their way.
"It's absolutely breaking my heart," she said.

"It's ruined my Christmas, we've cancelled Christmas totally because it's
just so sad."

Defra says that it is as concerned as farmers about the problems TB has
caused and is currently consulting on whether there should be badger
culling.
