No, I have not spoken to any press in the last week or so and your name has
not cropped up; ever, as far as I can recall.

I don't know whether you consider that good or bad news. I suppose that
depends what role you are playing today?

Actually, I think the campaign for the reform of Britain's corrupt State
Veterinary Service is going pretty well.

Being demoted and removed to a motorway away from the centre of power has
not, it seems, improved morale. That seems an essential first step to
chucking out the crooks and returning to public esteem.

Private Eye have done a good job - and it seems the Conservatives are now
leaning all over them.

But pride of place must go to the Taiwanese, although it seems the Yanks are
coming.

I have no idea what the papers will be saying at the end of the week, but I
suspect it is more likely to be

"Minister caught with pants down again"

than

"Californian Doomsday Cult leader advised MAFF during Foot and Mouth."

Just try to relax. You can always go back to being a farmer. You can reform
too.
