Its a great way to copy bits from books too - you get an image you can blow
up to read and you can include it in context in a document or website [
copyright permitting etc and depending on the intended viewers ]. I have
used it a bit when looking through someone elses personal library or
articles. It means you are not taking the item out of their control but you
get the info you are looking for in a form you can work with in the future.
What I have not worked out yet is if any OCR programs can read them but I
suspect not :~) - I suspect that there is something about going through a
scanner that prepares the image for OCR but have not investigated further
yet.
