In your case photovoltaics -might- have a use trickle charging batteries in
places remote from your power supply. They do remarkably well on boats
where the batteries last years longer if they're kept topped up - the duty
cycle on leisure boat batteries are very skewed compared to most ag
machinery but might compare to use-once-a-year kit like harvesters.
Or: to maintain power to remote electric fencing. There's a picture of a
solar powered remote energiser unit with enough zap to keep elephants out of
