I thought letters to HMRC normally went into storage for a few months,
and are then read by someone who files them in the bin unacted-upon.
They do but if you phone up after 40 working days they will let you
fax it to them and sometimes they will act on it there and then.
So would it be better not to bother sending the letter, and instead just
to ring up and claim you sent it 40 days ago and ask why the devil they
haven't responded yet and please could you fax it to them now?
