if you don't like the bit that says:
However the following are not appropriate in this group:

software;

p1ss off.... cheerio

Firstly, I'm a very regular NG user for many years now, only new to
this particular one. My response followed some others where software
was discussed, as it is on many other threads in this NG.

You know, I'd love to live in the ideal world you do where you always
have the time to read the charter for every NG you subscribe to.
Really, I would.

I'd also love to know how a group can exist when , if someone asks for
suggestions, the charter would stop anyone giving a pertinent reply.

So say, for example, someone asks a question about Sage. There are a
number that I've already seen on this very NG . Does that violate the
charter? Would all replies to that therefore also violate the charter?
If so, your response to me seems rather overkill when you should
therefore spend your time ( which you have lots of, in your ideal
world, etc etc ) replying to every single respondent who answers such
queries.

Or perhaps you're a purist and only use your abacus, a pen and some
paper.

Still, I'm grateful you took some time off from your chronic self-abuse
to make me aware of your presence. That was special.
