I'm up against the long standing problem of keeping IT out of the
confidential and sensitive data. It's a real problem as you need a good
and well motivated IT dept, but the last thing you want is them knowing
everyone's salaries and personal info, and worst of all, how much profit
you're making :-)
We've a new IT Manager who's a great guy, and keen as mustard, but he
seems obsessed with knowing where all the numbers come from. I realise
that simply telling him it's confidential is likely to be seen as a
challenge.
Has anyone managed to have a good IT dept that is kept away from sensitive
data? And if so can you give a few pointers on how ?

You get the network administrator to set permissions. You do have a network?
You do have someone who knows what they're doing?
Oops... it's the IT guy!!
So you get someone in at weekend and rejig it all... allowing you top level
access and others what they need to know.
