Charter for uk.adverts.personals - Please read _before_ posting

This group was created in December 1995, and its charter stated that an FAQ
should be automatically posted regularly. To make up for this oversight the
Charter for the group is below, noting that until the charter is changed
and agreed under the guidelines for newsgroups (availiable from
http://www.usenet.org.uk/ ), this is the verifiable charter for this group.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is the initial charter for the newsgroup uk.adverts.personals
as issued in the newgroup message.

uk.adverts.personals for personal contact adverts with relevance to the UK.

UK.ADVERTS.PERSONALS CHARTER

The Name: uk.adverts.personals

The Charter:
A board for the placing of personal contact and correspondance
requests and advertisements relevant to Internet users in the
United Kingdom. A sort FAQ redirecting discussion arising from
adverts to the appropriate groups should be automatically
posted on a regular basis.

Advertising: Will be permitted.

Moderation: There will be no moderator for this newsgroup.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

It is suggested that discussions should take place in suitable discussion
groups, in whatever newsgroup hierarchy is most suitable. Currently in
the uk.* hierarchy several choices exist:-

uk.local.*
uk.people.*
notably uk.people.gothic
uk.people.bdsm
uk.misc
uk.gay-lesbian-bi
uk.singles

For each group it is highly receommended that any poster does the following,
_before_ posting:-

a) Read the newsgroup charter, availible on http://www.usenet.org.uk/
or from the email server detailed in the signature.

b) Read the newsgroup FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions), usually posted in
the newsgroup, (some available from the email server detailed in the
signature).

c) Read the newsgroup for at least two days.

For a guide on how to configure your newsreader/web-browser for posting
to uk.* groups, see <http://www.usenet.org.uk/ukpost.html> .

Proposed changes to this or any other uk.* newsgroup are published in
<news:uk.net.news.announce>, a moderated, low traffic newsgroup, which
you are recommended to subscribe to. Details of elections to the
UK Usenet Committee, which normally start in September of each year,
are also found there.

For those who are familiar with this post and know how to use killfiles,
it is possible to avoid downloading this FAQ under normal circumstances
by adding a reference to kill on the following line:-

X-Changes: NONE

When a new version appears this will be modified for the first time it is
posted, hopefully saving bandwidth..

Please note the Reply-to address is to the automated email server in the
sig below, which only recognises 'commands' not any other forms of messages.
