I am about to purchase this laptop for 599USD. Can anyone tell me if
this is a decent buy for the money or should I purchase something
local when get back to the UK.

Acer Aspire 5570-2997

Well I got the Acer Aspire 5633wlmi from Savastore in mid January for £ 586 ex VAT inc Delivery and paid £ 14 for the Vista Home Premium upgrade when it came out. So £ 600 all in. It has a Core 2 Duo 1.66ghz CPU and 1GB Ram + a Geforce 7300 Go and 120gb Hard Drive + 15" WXGA TFT. I saw exact same one in a shop in Guernsey a few weeks back going for approx £ 550. You could say that your machine is worth less becuase it is a Core 1 Duo CPU doesn't have a Geforce Go 7300 dedicated GPU and only a 14.1" TFT but it does have 2GB Ram and 160gb Hard Drive which kind of evens things out. So in the UK in mid January or in a little shop in Guernsey now I guess this machine would sell for around £ 550 ex VAT but I guess its a discontinued model as it has Core 1 Duo. In the UK now however it would be worth about £ 150 less then it would of in mid January so you could say it would be worth around £ 436 ex VAT now or £ 512 inc. I worked out that your $599 equates to about £ 300 so the machine is cheaper then the inc VAT UK price by about £ 150 - £ 200 so I pretty good buy I would say.

Try typing like you speak - you pause to take a breath here and there, rather than spout a stream of whatever is running through your brain cell don`t you? So why not do it online? I seriously doubt ANYONE would bother reading your post above.
