I bought some cheap Belkin (bleurgh!) leads from eBuyer but they were crap - the screen was "ghosting."Genders and length needed?
They didn't have that magical mysterious cylinder around the cable - I'm guessing that's why the ghosting - btw, what is that thing?
Anyway, any offers?
I've found one reasonable source is the lead sets that come with the cheapest ebay 4way KVM. The switches may not be that good, but the cables seem pretty reasonable..Some come with 4 x 3m cables...YMMV.
The magic cylinder is a ferrite core. It will degrade the signal(s) but hopefully degrades the noise more... The signal degradation will appear as edges becoming less sharp - which can sometimes make the picture *look* better...
Ghosting is due to an impedance mismatch causing power to be reflected rather than absorbed. One way to prevent that is to use a monitor with individual BNC inputs. If the monitor itself doesn't allow the leads to be correctly terminated, you can add T pieces and terminators at the input sockets. A ferrite core can improve ghosting but will also attenuate the wanted signal. Impedance matching is a better solution.
You used to be able to buy "dongles" with built-in terminators that went between monitor socket and cable plug. A cheaper alternative to BNC cables and monitors. All been overtaken by using digital instead of analogue signals to the monitor.
