Ideally pre-modded, I`ve got a big HD to put in it. It`s going to be
used as a media player with media loaded over the network, so as long
as the DVD drive is capable of reading a CD to allow me to install
the software I want I`ll be happy. The ability to read DVD-R or +R
isn`t at all relevant, it`s never going to have a game played on it
:-)

Anyone got anything suitible?

Well god bless Chavs! I`ve just popped into my local cash convertors
to see what they had, as the drive on my XBox that I use to play games
has gone funny. £30 for an xbox, controller, cables and a DVD remote
control, that`ll do me nicely as a spare! I`m also hoping to get the
one offered to me by "trust no one", as a crystal box would look
better where I want to put it, but at least i`ve got a spare for £30.

Hi Simon,

You've got mail.

You must be the luckiest man on the Planet. The cash converters near me
are usually ridiculously overpriced (reminds me of Computer Exchange)
but every now and then (again like Computer Exchange) you pick up a
real gem of a bargain.

They`ve still got at least 4 more in the window. Seemed stupidly cheap
for everything I could see. Guess I was lucky to get the remote control
too though, but when the modchip turns up in a few days (along with your
xbox :-) ) it`s gonna look fantastic :-)

This may be a daft question, but why bother faffing around with a modchip
when softmods are so easy?

How easy is it to fit a 300 gig drive to a soft modded xbox?

Very. I've got a 250GB in mine.

How much effort does it take to dig out the needed version of a game, and
the associated save, and then get that save onto the console?

A lot less than fitting a modchip I suspect, but that does depend on having
a way to get the gamesave across.

Horses for courses I suppose, I just wondered why you'd want to go the extra
expense when it's not really necessary.
