Hi Adrian,

I currently have 2gb of the ebuyer bits listed above. I've tried
ebuyers own brand, samsung memory, some other major on third, etc, but
they all give problems. The motherboard is an MSI K8N SLI Platinum.
The CPU is an AMD x64 X2 4800+.

Hi Ben,

You are aware MSI state the K8N SLI board (nForce3) supports a maximum memory size of 2GB for DDR400, and a maximum memory size of 3GB for DDR333?

From information posted by Asus for their boards similary affected, this is due to AMD Athlon64 CPU specification limitation. Refer to Table 41 of BIOS and Kernel Developer's Guide for AMD Athlon™ 64 and AMD Opteron™ Processors on page 173-174.

FWIW If problems are suffered, the workaround is increasing 'command time' settings in the BIOS, or running memory at DDR333 :-(
