Looking for some advice re new AMD-compatible motherboards. I currently
have half a dozen PCs on the home network, all running various flavours
of Socket A CPU. I would prefer to continue with AMD CPUs if possible
but would like to get a socket type that is likely to continue in
production for a few years. Any recommendations?
I believe "AM2" is the latest socket for AMD processors. Until another
new design comes along, that is...

Epox MF570sli I bought for £80 from komplett was a great buy, most other
boards came in around the £120 mark for the spec I got, £80 for this one,
bargain, has 6 (or 8 cant remember now!) sata controllers, onboard hd
audio etc etc etc, only 1 problem is its a bugger with memory, corsair
value select ddr2 seems to work the best but cant mix and match it with
other brands.......my tuppence worth anyway
AM2 is the current socket, which comes with a bonus of being compatible with
upcoming AM3 processors (just you wont get use from the new AM3 memory
controller) so looking forward, make sure you buy your mobo from a company
thats likely to update the bios when that happens.
