Here, let me try to clear this up for both you and me.

There is a language problem when trying to discuss spirituality.

For example, if someone were to say, "There is nothing you can do to
realize that you are already enlightened" there are actually TWO
DIFFERENT "you's" being referred to here!

So let me define them:

Real You = God, Reality, Oneness, Enlightenment, The Ground of All
Being, Nirvana, Buddha Nature, Brahman, etc, etc.

little-you = "what most people think they are", Human, Dream
Character, Ego, Personality, Body, Mind, BMU (Body/Mind Unit),
Thoughts, Emotions, Life Story, Life History, Delusional, etc, etc.

So to rewrite that sentence, "There is nothing little-you can do to
realize that Real You is already enlightened."

So lets POUND AWAY at this:

Real You is already enlightened.

little-you is a character in a dream -- NOT real. Not at all. That is
REALITY. Not something hypothetical. Not a theory that can be proven.
Not something intellectual. Not a spiritual teaching!!!

In ***REALITY*** everything little-you thinks is real is NOT.

Real You is what is actually real, that is actually the real world.
Reality. If little-you ever says, "but I have to do stuff here in the
real world" like eat, sleep, work, get a job, make money, be nice to
people, fall in love, have children, save the planet, etc, etc. that
is WRONG. That is DELUSION. That is NOT correct. That is NOT reality.
little-you is NOT real. little-you is delusional. Everything little
you *perceives* to be real is NOT reality!

If you have a dream about murdering someone, do you think that when
you wake up you should be punished for the crime of murdering someone
in a dream? Executed?? NO! It isn't real. It did NOT actually happen.
NO IT IS NOT REAL. Murdering someone NOW, here, right now in THIS
waking dream is NOT REAL either. No it is not. As long as you --
meaning little-you -- believes that all this is real, then you are in
the game, you are delusional, you are entranced by thoughts over which
you have NO control, never have, never will. You are the equivalent
of a mentally ill person.

That is the point of all spiritual practice. Go ahead and do all the
meditation you want and TRY TRY TRY to control your thoughts. YOU CAN
NOT. You have no control over your thoughts! OK, with YEARS of
practice, thoughts end up somewhat different. But YOU have no control!

Let me state this more accurately: little-you LOVES to believe in free
will. But in order to have free will, then little-you MUST have
control over its own thoughts. little-you can do stuff that seems to
change thoughts.

But Real You does NOT control thoughts. Real You does not control
ANYTHING AT ALL IN THE UNIVERSE! Real You can be aware of thoughts
that spontaneously arise in the mind -- that which little-you thinks
is real. But Real You ***contains*** all that appears to be real to
little-you.

Everything in the universe is within YOU. That is what YOU are. That
is Real You. That really is you! That is REALITY.

Does Real You control the movement of the stars? NO!

Does Real You control the thoughts that appear to arise in the
apparent mind? NO!

Does Real You control anything? NO!

Does little-you suffer because it wants to believe that it can control
stuff? YES!

little-you suffers because it wants things to stay the same, or be a
certain way in the future, or be different that what is right here
right now. But NOTHING EVER stays the same. That is REALITY. When
little-you gives up all trying to control the uncontrollable, then it
is said to be enlightened. That is to say, little-you DIES, is snuffed
out, is seen by Real You to have never existed, to have been UN-real,
to have been a character in a dream. And now Real You has awoken to
what Real You is and always has been. That is what is REAL. That is
really what YOU are. That is the ONLY you!

There is nothing little-you can ever do to make this happen. If you go
watch Batman at a movie theater, and one of the characters stabs away
at the screen, what happens? NOTHING! You are the screen, yet you
think you are the character. YOU ARE NOT.

If you go watch Batman at a movie theater, and one of the characters
tries to turn off the light on the projector, what happens? NOTHING!
You are the light coming out of the projector, yet you think you are
the character. YOU ARE NOT.

Real You is having a fun time projecting characters onto a screen.
little-you is one of those characters, and believes it is real. IT IS
NOT.

Imagine you watch a movie and a character works like crazy to meditate
because that character wants to become enlightened. Will that
character become the screen? little-you can NEVER meditate and become
the screen. Or the light of the projector.

You are the screen. You are the light. little-you can run around and
around and around on screen for the next 30, 40, 50 years TRYING to
become the light and will NEVER succeed. Ever.

And the ONLY time little-you can realize this is NOW. Because in
reality, there is no such thing as time. There is only now. Infinitely
now. That is REALITY.

little-you will drone on and on and have lots of thoughts about space
and time and science-y stuff and have beliefs about the past and
visions of the future -- and in reality all thoughts of the past occur
RIGHT NOW. All visions of the future occur RIGHT NOW. Any thought that
you did something in the past is a memory in the mind -- and that
memory is occurring RIGHT NOW. What are you going to do tomorrow?
Whatever you believe you are going to do tomorrow is a thought in the
mind, right NOW. There is only ever now. There is infinitely now. That
is reality.

The belief that there is a "you" (the little-you) is delusion. There
is no time, therefore there is no little-you. There are memories
occurring right now about your life story, there are memories
occurring right now about what you are good at and bad at and those
memories are occurring right now, there may be a relationship with
another person which is nothing but thoughts and emotions and memories
about another person, and those thoughts, emotions and memories are
all occurring RIGHT NOW. There is only ever now, there is no past,
there is no future, all thoughts, memories, emotions EVERYTHING that
occurs in the mind occurs RIGHT NOW. Everything that occurs in reality
occurs right now. Time is an illusion. Belief in time is delusional.
Believe that there is a little-you is delusional.

You, Real You, does not exist in time. Real You exists in reality. In
reality there is no time. In reality, you were never born. In reality
you will never die. In reality there is only Real You. That is what
you are. You are everything. You contain everything. You are
everything. You are infinite. You are timeless. You are beyond life
and death. That is what you really are. That is Real You. You are
God. You are the universe. That is what you are right now, no matter
what the little-you has banging around in its little skull.

You are timeless, deathless, birthless, infinite, everything. You do
not CARE what happens in the dream. If a star smashes into another
star, what does this do to you? Real You? NOTHING! You are beyond
that. You contain that. You are within that. That simply appears to
occur. That is just more of the play. More of the dream.

Real You does not have thoughts. Real You does not have memories. Real
you certainly does not make moral judgments!!! Real you knows that it
is NOT WRONG if a star crashes into another star. That does not affect
you. Real you knows that it is NOT RIGHT if a star crashes into
another star. That does not affect you. Real You does not care one way
or the other. That would be a moral judgment. You are beyond that. You
are within that, you contain that, and you transcend that. That is
what you are. That is Real You.

In exactly the same way, Real You knows that it is not right and it is
not wrong if a human does something to another human. Falls in love,
or murders. Saves little children, or mass murders a bunch of people.

So what does that mean? I can just go out and murder people??

NO! That is NOT you! The body isn't you! The mind isn't you! The
actions are NOT you! You do not control the body. You do not control
the mind. YOU ARE BEYOND ALL THAT. You contain that, are within that,
and transcend that. That is REALITY. That is what you are. That is
Real You.

Seriously, does little-you believe that if a massive meteor came by 2
seconds from now and blasted planet Earth to dust and all human
endeavors were erased from the universe, the universe would give one
flying CRAP? Of course not! That in fact is exactly what WILL happen!
Soon!!! In the whole scheme of the universe, "your" life, "my" life is
an imperceivable little blip, not noticed by
99.99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999%
of all stuff in the universe.

Not to worry. That is NOT YOU. That life you think you are is a
delusion within the apparent mind of little-you.

Real You IS the universe. Real You is beyond life and death, and
therefore will never die, because real you was never born. That is
reality.
