Translating buddhist terms

I have some insight of buddhism. So when I tried to tranlate the term
"to grasp" to my mother tongue Finnish, it become "to intellectualize"
or "to grasp thoughts". The term "non-grasping" become "enthusiasm",
"creativity", "living with the senses" and "flowing with life". Are
these translations culture specific or do they apply also in other
languages and cultures?
