I haven't, knowingly, met anyone who is enlightened,
but how about all of those unknowingly
enlightened encounters? those incubus
and sucubus rendevous with that heart
stopping brand of orgasmic nirvana?
-so I have to take
the possibility of enlightenemnt as a matter of faith.
faith shmaith, it's a matter of dollars.
look at all of the hucksters out there
now claiming to be able to get you
to a higher awareness when their
qualifications are seemingly quite
dubious at best. wayne dyer, deepack
chopra, ken wilbur, ekhart tolle, the list
goes on and on.
With this faith I am encouraged to listen to what others, who 'claim'
to be enlightened, advise on how to go about it (e.g. the Buddha).
buddha may have just been the grand
huckster of his own time. how many
buddhists do you see attaining this
slippery notion called enlightenment?
The
Buddhist teachings that I have heard, along with my doubts, questioning
and scepticism, advise me not to blindly take everything I hear as
being the truth, but to use reasoning and experience to justify their
validity and suitibility to me.
don't expect a logic addiction or a clinging
to empiricisms to find enlightenment for
you since enlightenment has absolutely
nothing to do with reason, logic, intellect
or experience.
For me, reasoning leads to the idea of interdependence, which in turn
leads to altruistic thoughts - at least some of the time. And then
altruistic thoughts lead to wishing, wishing leading to faith and so on
neither will an addiction to leadings.
...
So, I see faith, reasoning and altruism as going hand-in-hand, one
leading to the other.
does the phrase, "blind leading the blind"
have any relevance here?
And the funny thing is that my initial reason for wishing for
enlightenment was (and still mostly is) a selfish one.
how is that funny? do you think
that selfishness will get you there
if reason, logic and one thing leading
to another won't do it?
Just my view on things,
try a new pair of glasses.
