To me, taking the UK as an example of a country with a
relative
absence
of
'bouncing' people into religion, and ignoring the various
immigrant
populations where 'religion' serves various purposes like
'cultural
solidarity' etc. we're down to something like maybe 5%
involvement/adherence
among the culturally 'protestant'. I don't know what the
level
of
involvement in religion would be globally if everywhere
was
as
unoppressive
but it wouldn't surprise me if that wasn't the sort of
level.

The magic 5% again :-)

I think they might be the essential symmetrical
counterpart -
the
'unmagic'
5% :)

Lacking in "power, leadership, enterprise, poetry,
inspiration
and
reaching
and utilizing the power of the unconscious mind".

BTW what do you think about Nietszche's Uebermensch? I start
to
see
you
as a potential fan of his.

I can remember barely anything about him (and nothing 'good').

i think he was very fond of horses.

!:) I believe it was one of those that the last British king to
'lead'
his
army from the front rode on - about 200 years ago - (as opposed to
'push'
from behind, or from a bunker, or like in chess).

: ) wasn't it a duke or something by then? 200 years ago would be
napoleon. i can't remember who the king was. you sure it was a
king?
i
get them all mixed up after james 2...

Apparently it was a bit further back - 1743. George II at the Battle
of
Dettingen - "the last English monarch to lead his troops into
battle."

oh him!...another german playing armies...

i'd never heard of this one so i looked it up. austrian war of
succession, and apparently -

" George II's horse bolted during the battle. He is said to have
sheltered under an oak and to have presented an oak leaf to the
soldiers
who looked after him." imagine how thrilled they were. : )

and look at these causality figures -

British: 15 officers killed, 250 soldiers killed, 327 horses killed. 38
officers wounded, 520 soldiers wounded, 155 horses wounded.

Jan! I bet you haven't even been praying for Wayne Rooney's foot :)

there's no fooling you, Jon. : )
be fair - i do know he plays for england and broke his toe. and i know
there's a world cup soon. if germany wins, i reckon there's a good chance
blair will have to go. : )

1805, battle of trafalgar, nelson
mandela's column, south africa house, british lions, poll tax and
riots,
neo-labour's local election results and bruce springsteen's sweet
ass...

Wouldn't that be a bit old and bony and/or saggy by now? :)

lol! nice try but it seems to be holding up pretty well : )

It's not as old I as I thought - only 57 this year, apparently - and I'm
sure he could afford some kind of surgical internal-scaffolding or
somesuch

!!! : o
:)

- you could
check out the photo-gallery on this site : )

(It took too long to load but...)... I'm not going to chase round the
internet to stare at a man's arse! ("but I know a man who can")

maybe he'll post a link to the best bum shots... : )

these were my first thoughts...
but they've been re-shuffled...

on my desk there's a catnip mouse, 2 cat balls, a tweeting chick
mike
got
for him mom at easter because she likes things like that and forgot
to
give to her, a purple small alien, just thrown for flick, who was
also
on
my desk, and a small beanie gorilla that must have dropped out of
the
sack
of cuddly toys my daughter agreed we could dispose of and finally
went
to
Age Concern yesterday - well she is 25...and wondering how they all
end
up
on my desk. and that's just the desk at home... : )

Women! :)

mike's just told me he's emptied my coat pockets from assorted jackets
moved upstairs because of decorating, and to get a container, which was
quite good really because think how much more there would be in a bag
than
pockets, plus i found a chocolate from the last time we went for a
balti.
: )

:) Please convey my regards to His Excellence.

gladly. he says hi, and wanted to have a moan with you about me, but i'm
not co-operating with that! : )
