Buddha and God

It appears that all the great Buddhist sages have often remarked that the
Blessed one never mentioned god in his discourses.
That may be true
But what conclusion can one draw from this?
That Buddha didn?t believe in god?
Or (more likely) thought god was irrelevant to the quest for nirvana?
Or that the discussion of god invariably leads to dispute and division
that is a distraction to what is essential
Or Buddha rejected the absurd western style belief in a ?sky god? that has
no degree of observable reality
Whatever eventually the question must be dealt with probably in order to
synthesize the beliefs of humans.
Maybe?
