Re: A Baha'i Theocracy in Iran?

May - this is the original post your talk of Palabra publications was
meant to be a response to.

I think it deserves reposting.

Get back to me if you think you've got something worth saying that's
ACTUALLY a response to my post, not another move in your Nima-
cheerleading propaganda war.

But I would like to know how they will force people like you to change
what
they sincerely believe in their hearts.

The same way Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot, etc, forced people.

Yeah banning churches, sending people to concentration camps etc

Are you suggesting, that knowing how reliable Nima's word is, that
you'll just accept what he says about Baha'is being the same as
Stalin, Hitler and Pol Pot just because HE says so!

You KNOW he hates Baha'is - and yet you just accept that his word on
how the Baha'is plan to take over the world is gospel!

You and I know that the Baha'i Faith will never be the world religion
that they and Baha'u'llah thought it would be.

However, the impression I got when I used to mix with Baha'is, and got
to talking to them about this sort of speculative stuff about what the
world might be like after the lesser peace, or the Most Great Peace -
well, many Baha'is seem to imagine something like I've heard of
amongst Quakers - that some Quakers consider themselves Buddhist
Quakers - some Baha'is seem to think that there might be Hindu-
Baha'is, Christian-Baha'is, Muslim-Baha'is and so on - since Baha'is
assume that all the Manifestations of God are equally inspired, what
difference does it make to them whether some people feel a greater
attachment to the Hindu Manifestations, since it's part of their
Indian culture, while some would still love to pray towards Jesus,
since that was their, say, American culture.

It's true that people, especially from Chinese and Indian traditions,
can criticise the Baha'is for ignoring what are the really substantive
differences between Baha'u'llah's religion and theirs - you've noticed
yourself, I think, that belief in re-incarnation is one of the major
differences - it's also true that I've heard Baha'is say things along
the lines of "Well, all the old religions lost their effectiveness
once Baha'u'llah declared his revelation" - a sentiment from which I
shrink - I personally read Abdu'l Baha as saying that there are many
ways to God, and for any individual any one of the old ones that
worked in the past will still work today - but, in AB's opinion, the
newness of Baha'iism is necessary to tackle the global problems of
today.

Ideas of Baha'is rounding people up to put them in concentration camps
are far-fetched to say the least!
