The problem IMV with the use of such militaristic language to describe
the eternal struggle between ignorance and illumination is that it
inevitably leads to one group of people scapegoating another.

For me this struggle is simply the natural threshold of social and
intellectual evolution that we undergo as a kind. That we see it as a
war, as a battle, is because of the difficulty in seeing the big
picture the long view.

We are so species centric in our view of ourselves as a kind that we
have brought our entire ecosystem to the point of crisis all the while
under the delusion that we are somehow special.

Although people of intelligence can clearly see that such militaristic
language is metaphoric there are always those powers that be whose
vested interest is to maintain ignorance and one of the ways they
maintain that ignorance is to literalize such metaphorical language;
just as George Bush Jr. has in pitting 'righteous' America against
'the axis of evil'.

There are many Americans now who see a clash between the Christian
West and the Islamic East as a inevitability. Such militaristic
language that has been used in all Abrahamic religions, and in
religion in general, is being turned into a propaganda tool to be used
by groups such as The Project for a New American Century to create
hatred, fear, and suspicion. Hatred, fear and suspicion that not only
is being used as an excuse to perpetuate violence against whoever is a
convenient scapegoat but ironically as an excuse to erode the rights
and freedoms of American's themselves. It's fucking insideous.
