EU concerns re Iran

Nima Hazini ("Wahid Azal") has ben telling us how the international
community doesn't believe the Baha'i accounts of what is happening to
them in Iran,, partly as a result of his own efforts.
This statement appeared in a number of European news outlets at the
weekend.
Once again Nima Hazini ("Wahid Azal") is exposed as a fantasist whose
word cannot be trusted.

European Union cautions Iran on human rights
Berlin (dpa) - The European Union voiced concern Friday over human
rights in Iran, with the German presidency criticizing Tehran for
amputating limbs of two thieves in February and May.
It said it was troubled at a recent wave of arrests of civic and
women's rights activists and the closure of at least three offices of
non-governmental organizations.
"The EU also wishes to draw attention to the worsening of the
situation of ethnic and religious minorities in Iran, in particular to
the plight of the Baha'i, who are excluded from public life,
discriminated against and harassed," the Berlin statement said.
The EU urged Iran to uphold a moratorium on the death penalty for
juveniles, amputations and other cruel punishments such as stoning and
to legally abolish these.
It said Iran had executed one young man, Mohammad Moussavi, on April
22 in Shiraz, despite the fact that he was only 16 at the time of his
crime.
The EU strongly rejects the death sentence for persons who were under
18 when their crime was committed.
"The EU also expresses its deep concern that two amputation sentences
were carried out against thieves in Kermanshah on February 27 and May
13.
"These sentences contravene the commitment that Iran made to the EU in
March 2003 to implement a moratorium on amputations," the 27 nation
body said, adding that 12 of its neighbours had aligned themselves
with the declaration.
