Re: Men And Women Are Not The Wings of One Bird

1. While I recognize that COPS is highly anecdotal, the sheer number
of filmed pursuits of violent felons, particularly foot chases, is too
compelling to lightly dismiss. Given COPS's eagerness to portray
women cops in a positive light, you would think that by now they would
have ONE video clip of a female cop doing what apparently only male
cops can do.

2. The problem with cops (and in the military) would not be serious
if the women were "extras" on the force, but they are not. They fill
slots that therefore become unavailable to men. And what this means
is that when the women cannot do the job, a man must be tasked to do
it. This is particularly problematic in the military, and a number of
military WIVES regularly complain that their husbands had to do TWO
tours of combat duty because a female soldier was pulled off the line.

3. Football: More young men than women suffer injury and death in
the sport. But that is because only a minuscule number of women
participate. Once you begin tallying mortality and morbidity in
percentage terms, the results are horrifying. Even at the safest
position (kicker), women cannot meet the requirements.

4. Likewise in the military, it is the most poorly kept secret in
almost ANY male-female populated military unit, subject to deployment,
that the female failure-to-complete-the-mission percentage rate will
be multiples of the male. Multiples. That fact has been hugely
embarrassing to that school of feminism that insists on male-female
interchangeability. And it gets worse. The Navy actually lowered its
physical rescue requirements to accommodate females. This will
eventually translate into more numerous avoidable deaths. The Army
considered eliminating the requirement of soldiers being able to carry
a 50-pound mortar base plate up a hillside, until it became painfully
aware that the mortar units would be rendered mission incapable.

5. Fortunately, most military enlisted women wholeheartedly reject
the idea that they should be subject to the same rigors of military
duty as men, particularly in the field of compulsory combat
assignment. In the officer corps, it is somewhat different, with
women aircrew members favoring compulsory combat duty. It should be
noted that combat experience is a far more vital factor in officer
promotions than in enlisted promotions.

6. "How about strip searching female suspects?" Actually, this issue
has already arisen, but the other way around. Women prison guards are
routinely assigned to watch male prisoners shower. (There is no
option, neither for the guard, nor for the prisoner.) This was done
to enhance the women's career prospects, since such duty is a time-
consuming aspect of the career. Granted, one need not sympathize with
the embarrassment suffered by convicted violent felons, but it says
something very bad about our society when we have no outrage against
this sort of thing. In Canada, there was outrage--- but it occurred
during a riot at a women's prison, whereupon in accord with policy,
all prisoners engaged in the riot were strip searched for weapons.
(My subsequent application for a job with the Canada prison bureau was
rejected.)

7. There are roles to play in both the military and police, for men
and women. It's just that the roles of men and women should not be
considered the same.

A previous thread in which I made this point got tangled up in trivia,
so I thought that I might make my case afresh.

(trivia snipped)
Men and women are equal partners with overlapping abilities and
functions. Society has done much to recognize the inherent ability of
women to do much that was previously forbidden to them.

Well said!

But there is a downside to this, too. In many ways, society and law
are engaging in the dangerous fantasy that "women can do anything that
men can do, and just as well."

Thus, we have women police officers, and by golly, they can do just as
well as male police officers.

Unfortunately, the case history debunks that myth. Hundreds of
episodes of the TV reality show, "cops," attempts to portray women in
a sympathetic light. But watch the episodes for your self, and count
the number of times you see a female cop chase down and subdue a
fleeing criminal. Rarely if ever will you see her do this unaided,
and even when aided, she is relegated to holding the struggling perp's
ankles, while her male "counterparts" wrestle the struggling violent
offender.

This may be news to you, Robert, but Reality TV has little to do w/ reality
beyond the fact that a) it can be entertaining for an audience, and b) the
reality that costs get cut, and in the case of Reality TV, the scriptwriter
costs are cut out. In real car accidents involving teenagers, cops will
crawl through a car searching for the smallest trace of illegal drugs, on
the the pretence of looking for a driver's license that was in a wallet that
fell out of a purse during the collision and subsequent rollover. That kind
of stupidity does not make it on to Reality TV. Because women are usally
smaller than men, I would think they might be better at getting in to the
smaller parts of a crumpled up car.

Being a cop is not all about running down a perp and tackling them. If it
were, the the police would focus on recruiting college defensive backs who
don't get drafted by the NFL.

As you are going to allude to below, the fact is that women _are_ needed in
the police force, despite your belief in Reality TV.

A news story some time ago portrayed a young female athlete who played
tackle football. She got tackled. She died. A promising athletic
career was snuffed out because the people around her pretended at this
dangerous myth.

Yes, football. When I was in high school a 17 year old got tackled,
collapsed, went in to a coma, and died. This one was a boy. His death was
not caused by the fact of his gender, and I doubt that your girl's death was
related to her gender.

Even the US military has suffered from the feminist mythology. During
mass mobilizations of troops, I will leave it to you to guess which
sex predominates in the following categories:

1) Percentage of troops who resist mobilization.

2) Percentage of troops who are excused from mobilization (usually
for family situations)

3) Percentage of troops who get mobilized but then must be replaced
before their tours of duty expire.

I've seen all that BS in a male only Combat Engineer company.

Women certainly have a place on the police force, for example
investigating rapes and ensuring proper handling of the victims.

How about strip searching female suspects? Would you want your wife or
sister to be strip searched by a male cop? I don't see what makes women
especially suited to investigate rapes. How would you feel if you
complained of a rape to the police and your case was handled by a squad of
just women?

The truth is that in the ascent of humanity, there is an equally balanced
dependence on both genders, much like the wings of a bird, because women
tend to be better at some essential tasks than men are, and men tend to be
better at some essential tasks than women tend to be.

Welcome back, again, Robert!
