As a vegetable gardener, I sometimes keep seeds from an earlier
harvest too long, and some corn and bean seeds, for example, lose their
germinating power if kept too long. Often you can't tell by looking at
the seeds which ones will germinate, and thus you don't know until you
see the empty spaces in the rows where sprouts have failed to emerge,
and also you see those which did emerge.
Guardians of the Baha'i Faith do not receive their power from their
predecessor Guardians, the ones who appoint them. They receive their
power as Guardians from their Lord, the Lord of this Age.
Bollocks! Guardians aren't Manifestations of God - they are
successors appointed to a position by their predecessor.
Shoghi didn't appoint any successor - ergo, he was the last
Guardian.

How old is Joel now? Isn't it about time he started thinking about
appointing a successor?
Boy, I hope it's Jeffrey!
I'm thinking it would be another gap in the row. Don't expect the Hands
to assent, though, that passage only applies on the 30th of February.

Welll I hope that when someone does get the job that there won't be any
awful_infighting amid self-serving declarations that Joel must have been off
his rocker to choose so-and-so.
And I'm sure that Joel himself must be appalled to see his followers on here
calling Mason senile, and using words like "malevolent" and "manipulator" to
describe anyone and everyone who hasn't been granted the unique spiritual
insights they have. I'm sure he expects much more modesty and less
closed-mindedness as befits followers of the self-appointed vice-regent of
the Almighty.
