Human Launcher
The US Defence Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has
filed a patent for "a controllable launcher for propelling a
payload through a predictable and repeatable trajectory to a
desired height." The invention is, in other words, a human
launcher, or a ladder for the lazy — the patent claims the
device will be able to put a person atop a 5-story building in
less than 2 seconds. A force called "gravity" is currently being
investigated as a way to reverse the effects of rapid elevation.
If you aren't going to use any ropes or nothing, a predictable
trajectory is desirable. More tax money needs to be spent to get that
right.
Thanks, Bill, it's nice to know someone reads my postings.
