The Muslims in the time of RasulAllah (sallAllahu alayhi wa
sallam) were constantly harassed by the idolaters, the Jews and the
hypocrites. In Mecca, the idolaters harassed them, while in Madinah it
was the Jews and hypocrites who left no stone unturned to make their
lives miserable. They were severely persecuted and some killed because
they believed; There is none worthy of worship except Allah and
Muhammad is the messenger of Allah. SallAllahu alayhi wa sallam.

So the Ummah of RasulAllah (sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam) can also
expect the same. If anyone of us proclaims “I believe in Allah” then
he/she should be prepared for the tests from Allah. The stronger the
faith in Allah, the harder the test will be and the greater the reward
if we face them with patience and having unshakable faith and trust in
Allah (SWT). The believer should always pray for safety and peace, but
must be steadfast on the face of hardships, directing his attention to
Allah. True Muslims will bear adversities, while those who merely look
for their own convenience, will find any excuse to escape when
hardships strike. Even if that means to abandon their religion.

Allah tells us in Surah Baqarah: "And certainly, We shall test you
with something of fear, hunger, loss of wealth, lives and fruits, but
give glad tidings to As-Sabirin (the patient). Who, when afflicted
with calamity, say: "Truly, to Allah we belong and truly, to Him we
shall return.'' They are those on whom are the Salawat (i.e., who are
blessed and will be forgiven) from their Lord, and (they are those
who) receive His mercy, and it is they who are the guided
ones." (Qur'an 2:155-157)

This world is a place of trials and tests, it is a testing ground
where we will continue to be tested until we meet Allah. Sometimes
they will occur in the form of fear, at times one will encounter
hunger, while it may also happen that one’s wealth will decrease.
Lives of family, friends, and loved ones may be lost while sometimes
produce and provisions may decrease. The believer preserves through
all of these. In the face of any adversity, he realizes that it is a
test from Allah and remains content with the decision of Allah,
aspiring for the rewards promised for it.

Remember that Allah will not afflict anyone more than what he/she can
bear.

Allah says: “Allah does not burden any human being with more than he
can bear.” (Qur'an 2:286)

So if you’re tested with some severe tests then rejoice, because this
means Allah has given you a lot of strength!

RasulAllah (sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam) said: “There is nothing (in
the form of trouble) that comes to a believer even if it is the
pricking of a thorn that there is decreed for him by Allah good or his
sins are obliterated.”

Allah also tells us: “Verily, along with every hardship is
relief” (Qur'an 94:5)
