Israel's portion of the blame, if blame is the right word, is that its
military responses to the problems it faces have often replaced one pain
in the arse neighbour with a worse one, because radicals always fill the
power vacuum. Say for example Israel felt itself compelled to invade
Syria, the power vacuum left by the destruction of the Assad regime would
likely be filled by a giant Hezbollah. All I am suggesting is that
Israel's role in the present problem is only that of being partially
responsible for creating the conditions in which Hezbollah can flourish.
Trash Arab National armies and you get the PLO, trash the PLO in Lebanon
and you get Hezbollah, so too trash Fatah and you get Hamas, trash Hamas
and you really will get a nihilistic Al-Qaida style replacement.

Osric let me ask a question: If Mexicans in Tijuana were lobbing rockets
into downtown San Diego from the sovereign, albeit weak government territory
of Mexico would the US retaliate. And if the US retaliated, would the US be
to blame for subsequent problems in Mexico??
Its like blaming the rape victim for the attack.
