It isn't, although the state of Lebanon has some of its roots in the
Israeli
occupation, and Hezbollah is a product of it.
I must be missing something. Lebanon was a country before 1948, how the
hell does it have any root in Israeli Occupation other than previous
Lebanese governments stupidly tolerating Hezbollah to establish itself
in its country??
The answer was in the bit you snipped, I meant the term "state" as in
"condition"
bad choice of words perhaps. Israeli culpability extends only so far as
it bears some responsibility for Lebanon being a basket case and
Hezbollah having the power it does.

a- its takes a big man to admit a mistake- in your case it was one of a
mispoken word, so its a non issue
b- I do take issue with Lebanon's basket case status having anything to do
with Israel. Lebanon allowed Syrian undermining of its government leading
to
Hezbollah. Did Israel come in after Lebanon allowed its country to be used
as a terror base. YES. Whose fault is that???
As I said the blame for Lebanon is by no means an issue for Israel alone,
but Hezbollah is a product of the Israeli invasion of Lebanon, and the
weakness of the Lebanese government is what allows it to thrive. The recent
invasion of Lebanon weakened the authority of the Lebanese state, and
enhanced Hezbollah's position.. The rights and wrongs of the situation
aren't really the point. Even if Israel was justified in invading Lebanon,
the result was to strengthen Hezbollah, and the original invasion of Lebanon
provided the environment conducive to Hezbollah thriving.
Israel's portion of the blame, if blame is the right word, is that its
military responses to the problems it faces have often replaced one pain in
the arse neighbour with a worse one, because radicals always fill the power
vacuum. Say for example Israel felt itself compelled to invade Syria, the
power vacuum left by the destruction of the Assad regime would likely be
filled by a giant Hezbollah. All I am suggesting is that Israel's role in
the present problem is only that of being partially responsible for creating
the conditions in which Hezbollah can flourish. Trash Arab National armies
and you get the PLO, trash the PLO in Lebanon and you get Hezbollah, so too
trash Fatah and you get Hamas, trash Hamas and you really will get a
nihilistic Al-Qaida style replacement.
