I don't think it's stupidity, so much as a sense that they can manipulate affairs in the Middle East so that they come out on top and gain everything they want, just through their own sheer cleverness and gift of bull***. It's hubris.

The leadership of Israel still hasn't realized that they are going to lose. Only when they come to this realization will they be honestly willing to give some things up, in return for stable borders and relative peace with their neighbors. The question is, has the hatred Israel has sown among the Arabs become so deeply-rooted, it can never be soothed no matter what Israel does?
