Say Ken; you got info that no one else has; that on 8 June 1967 the US
"had many vessels" within range of IAF operations, let alone of those
short-legged MTBs?????
Recall from your LVA training this by Ennes:
"During the afternoon [of 7 June] a radio broadcast of news and
commentary was directed through the ship's entertainment system. Men
gathered around speakers, listening to reports of Israel's stunning
successes against the Arab nations and digesting the heated United
Nations debates over the issues and the righteousness of the
participants.
We chuckled as the newscaster quoted an American official assuring
newsmen and the world that 'no American ship is within three hundred
miles of the fighting.' Perhaps not at this moment, we thought, but by
morning we'll be smelling the smoke."
Just were was the Sixth Fleet operating Ken, do you have access to a
map?????
Mort to Mike,
Are you claiming that the IDF knew the whereabouts of all American and
Soviet ships in the Eastern Med? To put it another way, what led the
IDF to believe it was impossible for an American or Soviet ship to be
steaming, in international waters, off the northern coast of Sinai?
If the IDF knew the whereabout of all American and Soviet ships in the
Eastern Med, then they knew the whereabouts of USS Liberty. If the
IDF did not have this knowledge, then it was not in a position to know
for certain that the "unidentified ship" was not American or Soviet.
So, did or did not the IDF know the whereabouts of all American and
Soviet ships in the Eastern Med?
It was war and the LIBERTY was close to a combat zone.
Moreover, she was not where she was supposed to be. The order to move
her was misrouted. This has been stated over and over and over. Why do
you beat the same horse over and over?- Hide quoted text -

You guys are Red Herring experts...
Don't kid yourself Ken, you try very very hard to ignore the real
world.
How about addressing the issue of whether or not attacking an
unidentified ship, in international waters was a reckless act?
Care to address, again, what were the events that led to the attacks?
At least attempt not to look completely foolish with that silly staw
man argrument above.
being reported world-wide :From the New York Times, June 8, 1967, for crying out loud; what was
<start>
The America Moves West, Away From War Zone
By Neil Sheehan
Special to The New York Times
ABOARD U.S.S. AMERICA, IN THE EASTERN MEDITERRANEAN, June 7--A Soviet
guided missile destroyer that has been shadowing this Sixth Fleet
carrier was joined this morning by a second Soviet destroyer as this
aircraft carrier headed west, farther from the Arab-Israeli war zone.
The America's westward move from her position yesterday [June 6] about
100 miles southeast of Crete, apparently on orders from Washington,
appeared to be a reaction to Egyptian charges, false as far as can be
determined here, that Sixth Fleet aircraft were providing air cover
yesterday for the Israeli Air Force.
....
<end>
Notice also the words "war zone", Ken??????? In the real world, it
was understood what had been taking place within that part of the
eastern Mediterranean since June 5 -- even if you wish to ignore it.
The fact that you all are dancing around this issue and introducing
Red Herrings leads me to believe that you can't defend the attack as
not being a reckless act.
So sorry Ken, at least some folks understand what was taking place on
8 June 1967 as well as what were the elements/events surrounding the
tragic incident, even if you wish to ignore it.
