The Arabic word "Mosque" translates to English roughly as "Fortress" or
"House of A lot of sex", depending on which dialect of Arabic is
employed and whom you ask.
Nope, mosque (Arabic masjid) means "place of prostration (in prayer)",
from the same triconsonantal root s-j-d as the verb sajada "to bow down",
"to throw oneself down before" (someone or something).
