It was $50k for a drug that extends life four months. (Mind you
the last two weeks hospitalisation for both by folks dying of cancer
was $30k each, so it is a comparable cost if it allows the patient to
live at home.) The behavior of the drug companies is like the oil
companies in the 1970s. They figured they were gonna be raided by the
pinkos no matter what they did so they were out to take as much as
they could while they could. Net result is Rx R&D is dead, just as we
have no new USA refineries in quarter century.
