I personally feel that Peter Waldman is the best-informed journalist
around for environmental perchlorate, but I'm biased because he
included me in an earlier article about a
former-Marine-turned-landscaper who eventually won a cash settlement
from Aerojet after nitrosodimethylamine from liquid rocket fuel and
perchlorate from solid rocket fuel permeated his neighborhood. The
perchlorate levels in the local water supply recorded in 1963 were in
the 1000-2000 ppb range. The family complaints were follicular variant
of papillary thyroid cancer, autoimmune thyroid disease, cerebral
gangliocytoma, schwannoma, and autism:
