Flu Vaccine Shortage Again

Despite rosy newspaper reports that all is well with the flu vaccine supply,
shortages even for those targed groups over 65, etc., are showing up again
as deliveries are delayed once again. In Durham County, NC, only 300 doses
of the flu vaccine were delivered in time for the start of the flu season,
and they are already exhausted and clinics canceled pending more shipments.
We used to have an industry shill, amp-spamfree, saying that there never has
been a flu vaccine shortage. Where is he? Did he die of the flu?
And the NC Health Plan, a state-wide plan covering teachers (all of whom are
state employees in NC) and other state employees (including university
professors), has decided to cover flu shots this year. You have to call a
toll-free number and they send you to clinics in hardware stores at odd
hours and odd places at widely separated intervals. Worthless advice.
