Exactly. Roads should be privately owned by competing companies. Tolls and
fines would be used to repare the roads.
Or do you support, as Bama Brian does, that action should not bother to
be taken until the drunk driver hits you and you die?
I am just speculating on what would happen in a libertarian society. I
believe there would be a competition of regulations allowing everyone to
find its need, instead of a one-size-fits-all law.
You can have both "Hells Angels & Co highway" (ride at your own risk pay for
the damages), or "Aunt'Betty's Country Road" (max 30mph, no prior driving
offense etc)
I think the "mainstream" road companies would be somewhat close to what we
have now with a few differences such as the ability to pay more to access a
faster lane (less jam), slightly higher speed limits, more automated
controls.
