My only problem with the libertarian party

For starters I want to say I agree with the libertarian parties
platforms on about 100 percent of the issues. I do however want to
state that I only have one problem with the party as a whole. Every
presidental election a libertarian runs for president and its a name
that nobody knows. Now I am going to be completely frank and honest
with everyone here, to get a libertarian to become president which we
obviously want two things have to happen in my opinion:
1. It has to be a name that everyone knows like a celebrity who has
entered politics
2. A career politician
I want to take some time to defend my reasoning for this and ask
why do libertarians who are NOT career politicians run for president?
In my opinion there is something to be said about a career politican
for a lot of reasons. Lets say Ronald Reagan had not ran for anything
and just ran for president, well he started out as a democrat. This
would confuse a lot of democrats in to voting for him and a lot of
republicans in to NOT voting for him. In my opinion the government
experience proves what party you really follow.
Lets say it were to happen like this. Someone runs for the
governership of Nevada and there libertarian, I am picking Nevada out
at random so go with me here. They win the election. After there
elected they will be put on a lot of pressure to stick to there guns
philosophically wise. So that when its time for them to run for
president we have proof there a libertarian. People can claim to be a
democrat, a republican, or a libertarian or any party the question is
what are they going to be when the going gets tough. The parties can
debate there issues using emotion and its very easy to do so we have no
idea if the guy would cave in or not.
Which brings me to my next point about the guy being well known. A
name is just a name, I want someone who has proven there philosophy
will hold up when people use emotional arguments to argue otherwise. I
must say its a shame that Jesse Ventura is not libertarian!!!
