Hurricane (non)Response Absolutely Unacceptable

Could it be any more clear that Bush and those who prop him up don't
give a damn about human life?
Here it is days after the disaster and still there is no help
getting to the stranded survivors? Every day I wake up expecting news
of at least some small improvement in conditions and every morning I
have been shocked and outraged to see that there has been no response.
Except for one. Private citizens using their personal boats to do what
they can to get stranded survivors to a central location. As usual, it
is the average person who stepped up and did the work that government
should have been responsible for orchestrating.
Now that large numbers of survivors are in central locations where
the hell is the help? How long does it take to put food on a truck and
drive it to where it is needed? HOURS, NOT DAYS!!! I know because I
used to do it. 10 year olds with go-carts and rubber rafts could have
done a better job responding to this than Bush and others who are
responsible.
Perhaps the constant chant of the media and bigger so-called
charities telling everyone to send money, not food and supplies was
entirely unwise and premature. Perhaps it is time that we created some
charities whose purpose it is to actually help people with the money
they recieve.
All the time, money (our tax money), and training we just put into
the first responders and this is the best we could do. What a sad, sad
time.
People in the power structure:
PUT DOWN YOUR COFFEE, GET OFF YOUR ASS, AND DO YOUR JOB!!!
